Arnab Goswami’s new venture to be called Republic

Goswami who gained popularity from his prime time show "The News Hour", quit the channel on November 1.

New Delhi, Dec 16: Journalist Arnab Goswami has announced his new venture named Republic. Goswami resigned from Times Now last month. Goswami who gained popularity from his prime time show “The News Hour”, quit the channel on November 1. Reportedly, Republic is being funded by various investors including media group owners and advertising groups. More details on his venture are expected to be be made public soon.

Rahul Shivshankar took over as the Editor-in-Chief of the news channel as Goswami’s exit. Goswami quit after working with the channel for 10 years. Goswami’s ‘The News Hour’ brought over 60 per cent revenue for the news channel. The show also had a dedicated audience across the country. Goswami also conducted interviews on another show ‘Frankly Speaking’ for the same channel. Goswami was also the President, News, of Times Now and ET Now.

Goswami is one of the most talked about news anchors in the country. He has garnered both positive and negative reactions for his style and presentation of news reports over the years. He was often criticsed for being judgmental on his news show.
