Meerut, Dec 5: Inter-Services Intelligence agent Mohammed Ejaz, was apprehended by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Meerut is suspected to be linked with stalwarts of Pakistan politics and celebrities. The agencies obtained a photograph of Ejaz’s twin brother, Fawad sharing the stage with former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and cricketer Shahid Afridi.
The security forces have confirmed that the photograph is of Ejaz’s brother, currently situated in Pakistan. “We showed him those images. Initially, we thought it was him. But on careful examination it was found that the person sharing the stage with the noted public figures was his twin brother. The accused has confirmed the same,” said Alok Sharma, IG, Meerut. Ejaz was arrested on Friday, after a long and careful chase by Uttar Pradesh STF. He had entered the Indian territory through Bangladesh along with an associate, who was last traced in Bareilly. Ejaz visited the South Block in New Delhi on two occasions – March and July, 2015, and sent images to Pakistan of himself standing outside the Parliament and Rajpath.
According to defense expert Sushant Sareen, “Pakistan is not that stupid to allow members of establishment to hang around with potential spies hired by it;s intelligence unit,” he was quoted as saying by India Today.
