New Delhi, April 27: Jolted by yet another defeat in the MCD elections, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal urged his party members and workers to not to leave a pure party like AAP. Losing to political rivals Bharatiya Janata Party in the MCD Elections 2017 after Assembly Elections further pushed the party on the back foot.

According to a report on NDTV, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal told his party members, “If you betray us, you are betraying GOD.” He asked his party members to swear to God that they will not leave this pure party. After a loss in the Delhi civic polls, some of the members of the ruling party in the national capital resigned from their respective posts.

Some of the members who quit the party blamed the top leadership for not leading from the front in the MCD polls. Post defeat in the elections, Kejriwal today chaired a meeting with the legislators at his residence. AAP yesterday lost to BJP to grab the second spot in the MCD polls.

After BJP’s victory in the MCD elections, Delhi chief minister congratulated the saffron party on Twitter. He wrote, “I congratulate BJP on their victory in all 3 MCDs. My govt looks forward to working wid MCDs for the betterment of Delhi.”

The MCD was under the rule of saffron party and by winning this election they made a hat-trick. They won the polls despite the anti-incumbency factor. Before the polls, Delhi CM had urged people of the national capital to not to vote for BJP, because if they do then they would continue to witness garbage on Delhi roads. Both the BJP and AAP were involved in a war of words over garbage on roads in Delhi.
