Dispur: The half-burnt body of a teenager was on Sunday recovered from a paddy field in Assam’s Kokrajhar. Prima facie has revealed that the woman was 18-years-old and was subjected to rape, and later, burnt to death.
“The woman was missing since Friday. Her body was found with hands tied at a paddy field in Gendrabeel area of the district Saturday night. It seems she was raped, but nothing can be said for sure before the arrival of the postmortem report,” the officer said.
A probe has been launched into the matter. Meanwhile, efforts are also on to nab the culprit.
In another incident, the body of a minor girl was found stuffed in a trolley bag at a roadside near Yamuna Biodiversity Park on Sunday. Police were informed about the incident at 7.30 AM and a team from the Timarpur police station visited the spot, an official said.
