Guwahati, Jun 9: Two youths were beaten to death in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Friday as they were suspected of being child lifters. The deceased, Abhijit Nath and Nilutpal Das were going to Kanthe Langshu picnic spot when they were attacked by a group of men at Panjuri village. According to eyewitnesses, both the boys were beaten brutally by bamboo poles and wood and tortured to death by villagers. Nilutpal kept saying telling the reason behind his visit, however, the mob continued to beat both the boys until they lost consciousness. The boys were found with their belongings stained with blood; Nilutpal was found with his hair chopped off. One of them was lying motionless and another was found alive, though he was declared brought dead when taken to a hospital. Police told a newspaper that they have located the villages responsible for beating the youths and would soon arrest them. A probe has been ordered into the matter by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

According to reports, both the boys left Guwahati on Friday in search of ornamental fish. Parents of both the youths have lodged a complaint with the police and have asked for an immediate arrest of the criminals.
