New Delhi, Aug 17: Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s final journey to the heavenly abode has begun. His mortal remains have been brought to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters where the party leaders have been paying their last respects to the former Prime Minister of India. Vajpayee’s funeral procession will begin at 1 PM and he will finally be laid to rest at 4 PM at the Smriti Sthal in Delhi. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s mortal remains, wrapped in the tricolour, were taken to the BJP headquarters here on Friday for the people to pay their last respects to the departed leader. The body in a flower-decked casket was carried in a hearse to 6-A Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg headquarters. A seven-day state mourning has been announced as a mark of respect for the former Prime Minister. Delhi government offices, schools and institutions have been closed. Delhi Police on Friday said they have made elaborate security arrangements in the city in view of the final journey and funeral ceremony of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
