Mumbai, July 28: The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) will deliver the verdict on the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case today. Among the 22 accused arrested in the case, include Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and plotter of the 26/11 terror attack, Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari.
On May 8 2006, a Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad arrested three terror suspects on Chandwad-Manmad highway near Aurangabad and apprehended three terror suspects and seized 30 kg of RDX and 10 AK-47 assault rifles.(Also Read: Aurangabad Arms Haul Case: Abu Jundal conspired to kill Narendra Modi, others after 2002 Gujarat riots, says Court)
The special court framed charges against the accused in August 2013. However, the trail was staed by the Supreme Court for a temporary period after one the accused challenged the constitutional validity of certain provisions of MCOCA. The stay was later lifted in 2009.
