New Delhi, June 5: In what could be another hurdle in the path of the BJP as it hopes to repeat its 2014 performance in the 2019 general elections, now seers are voicing their resentment over the delay in the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Close on the heels of Minorities Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s statement that the BJP would be fighting the 2019 elections on the agenda of development and that there was no room for Hindutva or Ram temple issues, sadhus warned that doing so would be the saffron party’s biggest mistake. In his response, Mahant Paramhans Das told media on Tuesday that if the BJP was serious about coming back to power, it could not afford to drop the Ram Temple agenda. “If they do not build the temple by 2019, there is no way the BJP is coming back to power,” he said. Calling out the BJP for its slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ Das said the party could not win a single by-poll with the same. “Inhone vikas aur sabka saath par chunaav lad ke dekh liya aur ye teen seat haar gaye,  Vidhan Sabha bhi haar gaye. Agar mandir nahin bana toh Ayodhya ka saadhu samaj, aur desh ka saadhu samaj, saath mil kar inko baahar kar dega (They lost all the three Lok Sabha by-polls in UP (Phulpur, Gorakhpur and Kairana) and they lost the Vidhan Sabha by-poll (Noorpur) as well. If they want to retain power, they will have to get the temple built of the entire sadhu community of Ayodhya, and the entire nation, will get together to unseat them),” he said. TimesNow quoted Mahant Satendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Temple, as saying, “Their Minister says that development will be the issue on which the BJP will fight the 2019 elections. If they dump the Ram Temple agenda for development agenda, they will be committing the biggest mistake of their lives. Ye bhool inke liye kitni haanikarak hogi, ye aaney waala chunaav bataayega.” He said the BJP shouldn’t assume that the party could get anywhere by neglecting ‘Ram Lalla’.
