Counting of votes polled in the high-stakes Delhi Assembly election began on Tuesday morning amid tight security at various centres set up to carry out the exercise. A total of twenty one centres for counting of votes were set up in the city-state, according to Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ranbir Singh. For Delhi Assembly Election 2020, the Babarpur Assembly constituency was a battle of prestige for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party as it has fielded its city convener Gopal Rai for this seat.
In the last assembly election which was held in 2015, the AAP had bagged 67 of the 70 Assembly seats. The 70 constituencies of Delhi will go to polls on February 8 and the counting of votes will take place on February 11.
The Babarpur assembly seat is located in the North East Delhi district of Delhi. The Babarpur assembly seat falls under the North East Delhi parliamentary constituency.
