Guwahati, May 22: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Maulana Badruddin Ajmal reacted to the video of Islamic State (ISIS) threatening to launch a jihad against India. Ajmal expressed his anguish against the extremists and claimed that Indian Muslims will never support terrorism.
Ajmal was featured in the video, along with other Muslim politicians, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Maulana Mahmood Madani. In the propaganda clip, the trio were shown as disloyal Islamic leaders who are exhibiting patronage towards India, despite Muslims being purportedly killed by the majoritarian community. Reacting angrily towards the video, Ajmal said, “An un islamic organization like ISIS shouldn’t lecture us on our role as leader of the community. It’s better you bunch of killers stop showing concern about Indian Muslims, they don’t need it. Indian Muslims never supported terrorism in the past, and never will in the future.”
Ajmal, a member of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Hind, is a renowned politician of Assam, the state whose 34 per cent of the population comprises of Muslims. He has been elected as lawmaker from Dhubri constituency.
The video referred in this article was released by ISIS on Friday. ISIS militants from Indian origin made an appearance in the video and promised to return to India with swords in their hand. The militants, speaking in Hindi, attempted to instigate Indian Muslims, by raking up the killings of Muslims in Muzaffarnagar, Gujarat and Kashmir.
