New Delhi, Dec 18: The much-awaited result of 2017 Gujarat Assembly Elections will be declared today along with that of Himachal Pradesh. Of the total 182 assembly segments in the state, 89 seats went to poll in the first phase on December 9 and the remaining 93 segments went on poll in the second phase on December 14.
Mahisagar district of Gujarat went on poll in the second phase of election (December 14). The district has three constituencies Balasinor, Lunavada and Santrampur (ST). The main fight was between the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the challenger Indian National Congress (INC). Apart from that, several independent, regional and national parties contested from the three constituencies of Mahisagar.
Here are the details of all three constituencies of Mahisagar:
Balasinor: For 2017 Assembly elections, BJP had fielded Mansinh Chauhan from Balasinor, while the Congress fielded Ajit Chauhan. In 2012, the seat was won by Indian National Congress’ candidate Chauhan Mansinh Kohyabhai. He had defeated BJP’s Pathak Rajesh bhai alias Pappubhai Gajanan.
Lunavada: This constituency of Mahisagar has 339 polling stations. The seat is seen as a Congress stronghold. For 2017 Assembly polls, the Congress had fielded Prananjay Ditya S Parmar to fight from the Lunavada seat while the ruling BJP had shown its faith on Juvansinh Lalsinh Chauhan. In 2012 assembly polls, Congress candidate Heerabhai Haribhai Patel won the seat with 72814 votes.
Santrampur(ST): For 2017, Assembly elections, the BJP hds fielded Kubersinh Dindor while the Congress party had entrusted Gendalbhai M. Damor to fight from Santrampur constituency. In 2012 Assembly polls, Congress candidate Damor Gendalbhai Motibhai won the seat with 68026 votes. He had defeated BJP’s Bhamat Mansinh Vallabhabhai.
