Kolkata, February 8: In a shocking incident, the body of a small-time Bengali actress, Bitasta Saha, was found hanging from her room’s ceiling in a semi-decomposed state. The actress’ body was recovered on Tuesday by police officers who stormed into her flat after her prolonged absence. When Saha did not answer her phone for two days, her mother decided to visit her flat in the southern part of the city’s Kasba area. However, when she did not open her flat for long, the police were called in. According to sources, the actress’s body was found hanging from the ceiling. In addition, one of her wrists was slit and there were several injury marks on her body too. Also Read - Aadhaar Card Update: Now You Can Update Name, Address, Phone Number In Local Languages Too. A report in the DNA, quoted the local police as having said, “Going by the preliminary signs it seems that she committed suicide. However, we are waiting for the postmortem report. The body appeared to be two-day-old and there was a bit of stench in the room,” he said. (ALSO READ: U.P. According to the Police, the actress was undergoing bouts of depression because of intensive stress and had been suicidal for quite some time. They said,”We have gone through her Facebook profile and posts, and found quite depressing posts on her wall… In fact, at one point she had also talked about putting an end to her life… We are checking everything including her call details.”

The actress’ mother, however, believes that Bitasta was murdered and did not commit suicide. She blamed Bitasta’s romantic partner, Saikat Mitra, a middle-aged income tax man for committing the murder. Bitasta also allegedly abandoned her family after meeting Mitra. The doubts on Mitra seem to intensify because of the fact that after Saha’s mother filed a FIR against Mitra, the taxman has fled the area. No one has been arrested thus far.
