Bengaluru Metro Latest News: The commercial operations of the Bengaluru Namma Metro Green Line Extension on the 3.7-km stretch from Nagasandra to Madavara is reportedly facing delays and is now expected to start operations only by the end of September. Official from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said that the final testing of equipment and infrastructure is still pending, The Hindu reported.
It should be noted that the construction on the extension started in 2017 with initial expectations to finish by mid-2019. However, it got delayed because of the land acquisition and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
An official from the BMRCL told The Hindu that the construction work on the track has been completed and the line will undergo testing over the next two months. However, he expects that the green line extension will be operational by the end of September.
The commuters must note that the elevated route from Nagasandra to Madavara includes three stations such as Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara, offering crucial connectivity to the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on Tumakuru Road.
The commuters need to know that once the Green Line extension is operational, residents in areas like Manjunathanagar, Chikkabidarakallu, Madavara, Tumakuru Road, Anchepalya and Jindal Nagar will benefit from reduced travel times.
In the Bengaluru Metro’s Green Line Extension, the first corridor will feature 31 stations, while the second will have nine stations. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) stated that the PIB has cleared the DPR but mentioned that the union cabinet’s approval is still pending.
