Bengaluru, July 29: After Gurugram, Bengaluru today witnessed heavy downpour causing traffic jam in the city. Vehicular movement was affected in many parts of Bengaluru due to the rains on the fourth consecutive day. In Bilekahalli area of Bengaluru, boats were used to rescue people trapped in water logged areas. Fire department has deployed boats to help people out of flooded areas.
Incessant rains which continued on Friday brought the city to a halt. Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike control rooms continuously received calls from distressed citizens. Heavy rains combined with uprooting of trees and wall collapses made commuting difficult for office goers in the morning. The worst affected were many areas in Bommanahalli. Flooding in Kodichikkanahalli and Bilekahalli areas, residents on the ground floor were asked to move to the upper floors early on Friday morning.
In many places, people had to wade through knee-deep waters on Friday. People have also been asked to keep their main switches off to evade any tragedy.
