If you think that this might end soon, you may be wrong as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Bengaluru on May 12, predicting heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning. As mentioned earlier, Bengaluru Rains have taken over the Karnataka capital bringing a much-needed relief from the high temperatures and scorching heat that the city has been facing along with a severe water crisis. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an orange alert has been issued for Bengaluru Rural District, for heavy rain, lightning and thunderstorms. The weather department has predicted week-long showers for Bengaluru and a yellow alert has also been issued in certain parts of the city.
The rainfall in Bengaluru will continue throughout the week. Dr N Puviarasan, an IMD scientist has been quoted by the Bangalore Mirror as saying, “A trough/wind discontinuity extends from Marathwada to the Comorin area across interior Karnataka and Kerala at an altitude of 0.9 km above mean sea level.” This means the district like Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga and Mysuru must be prepared to witness gusty winds and heavy rain in the coming days.
Moderate rain is also expected in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Chikkaballapura, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Ballari, Gadag, Bengaluru Rural and Urban, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Mandya, Davangere, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Vijayanagara, Haveri, Koppal, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Raichur and Yadgir.
Speaking about the weekly forecast regarding Bengaluru Weather, by the IMD, rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected to continue for the coming week and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 35 and 23 degree Celsius respectively. According to IMD, thunderstorm, lightning and squall is expected in North and South Interior Karnataka on May 11; heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning is expected on May 12 in South Interior Karnataka and on May 13 and May 14 in both south and north interior regions of the state.
