Bharat Bandh Today: Over 25 crore workers are likely to go on nationwide strike dubbed ‘Bharat Bandh’ in India today, July 9, in protest of central government policies that are perceived as “anti-worker, anti-farmer, and pro-corporate.” From banking to insurance, postal services, coal mining, steel, transportation, and government sectors, the strike involves a diverse group of workers. Farmers and rural labourers will also join in protests around the country. In Delhi, the Bandh likely to create some disruptions. However, as of now, there are no advisories from Delhi Metro, Delhi schools, Banks
Traffic police. This means daily life in Delhi may not be immediately affected, but disruptions could happen if the strike gathers large support.

It is important to note that the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and joint front of the agricultural workers unions have extended support to this strike action and decided to make massive mobilsations in rural India, the union leaders said.

Union leaders believe the walkout will disrupt banking, postal services, coal mining, public transportation, and manufacturing activities in many states.
