New Delhi, April 20: India’s very own money transaction mobile application BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) has come up with a new feature. Now users of this app, will receive a notofication whenever any transaction is declined. As per the a latest tweet by BHIM, this notification will also notify the user about the reason why the transaction was declined.
BHIM app is the baby project of Prime minister Narendra Modi who in a way to facilitate the dream of less-cash economy have been promoting the app in all platforms. He once said how the app will give more power to the poor and soon the poor of the country will chant ‘Digidhan, Nijidhan’. He claimed that people’s mobile phone will be their bank.
Earlier this month, PM Modi launched two new incentive schemes for the BHIM-Cashback and Referral Bonus with an outlay of Rs. 495 crore for a six-month period to ensure permeating digital payments culture to the grassroots.
However, a recent survey showed results which claimed that only 35.7 % of rural people are aware of the BHIM app, which apparently has a user base of more than 10 million in the country. The research also showed that “only 16.2 per cent of the respondents have downloaded the app and nine per cent of the respondents who have BHIM app are completely aware of usage process”. This in a way shows that BHIM has a lot to do to penetrate rural India, the targeted audience and increase its user base in rural India.
BHIM was launched in December 2016. It is a digital payments solution app based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
