The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) also received a bomb threat earlier this month. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and police rushed to the spot and initiated thorough security checks. However, authorities later confirmed the threat was a hoax.
The airport authorities informed that an anonymous email was received at around 6 am, claiming that explosives had been planted somewhere in the airport premises and several schools across the city.
After an extensive search authorities verified that no explosives were located and airport activities resumed without interruption.
RGIA police lodged a case and initiated an investigation to nab the source of the threatening email.
