Bihar Assembly Election: Polls to be held before November 22, says CEC Gyanesh Kumar

A meeting of the BJP election committee for Bihar was held here on Saturday to discuss, among other things, the party's strategy and prospective candidates for the upcoming state assembly polls.

Bihar Election 2025: A 16-member team of the Election Commission (EC), led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar who is on a two-day visit to Bihar, reached Patna on Sunday. According to the reports, an important meetings will continue today, followed by a significant press conference at 2 PM. Since the CEC is personally present in the state to review the preparations, there is a strong possibility that the election dates may be announced soon. Meanwhile, a meeting of the BJP election committee for Bihar was held here on Saturday to discuss, among other things, the party’s strategy and prospective candidates for the upcoming state assembly polls. The meeting, which was held late in the evening at the party’s state headquarters, was chaired by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who has been named the party’s in charge for the elections, which are likely to be announced soon.

BJP national general secretary in-charge for Bihar Vinod Tawde, who was present at the meeting, wrote on his X handle, “Bihar is ready to elect a development-oriented government once again. At the Bihar election committee meeting today, discussions were held on prospective candidates for upcoming polls”.

    Gyanesh Kumar says the ECI has introduced 17 new intiatives for the Bihar Assembly polls. He says that SIR has been successfully completed after a gap of 22 years, with the help of EROs and BLOs. Regarding the initiatives, he says the ECI has worked towards ensuring reduced crowds and shorter queues for the convenience of voters and not more than 1,200 voters at one polling stations. He says counters have been introduced just outside the polling stations for depositing mobile phones.
