India Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nitish Kumar after Mahagathbandhan aka Grand Alliance won the Bihar Assembly Elections 2015, with voting results favouring them on Sunday. Nitish Kumar made the announcement on Twitter and thanked Modi. Just received a phone call from the Prime Minister congratulating me,” Nitish Kumar wrote on Twitter.

As per the count at noon, Grand Alliance was leading in 156 seats, while the BJP was ahead in 76 constituencies. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah had said earlier, “This election was projected as a political war between Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has won in this battle.”

Even before the final results are out, BJP General Secretary P Murlidhar Rao has passed the onus of BJP’s poor show in Bihar on RK Singh and Shatrughan Sinha. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee too congratulated Nitish Kumar on the fantastic show by Grand Alliance in Bihar. She wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations Nitishji, Laluji & your full team. And all my Bihar brothers & sisters. Victory of tolerance, defeat of intolerance.”
