Patna, Sept 18: A day before the much-hyped Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s election rally in Paschim Champaran, the chiefs of the allies giving is the grand old party a cold shoulder. With Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu citing medical reasons for not attending the rally, the reason why Janata Dal United’s Nitish Kumar backed out at the last minute is not yet known. However, Lalu confirmed his son Tejaswi will attend the rally.
With elections dates ringing the bell and political parties in the Mahagatbandhan denying their presence at each others rally, the opposition in Bihar Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party, got an opportunity to take a jibe at the political movement. BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said on Friday, “Is se Rahul ji ko pata chal gaya hoga unki Bihar mein haisiyat kya hai (With this treatment Rahul Gandhi will get to know his position in Bihar).” (Also Read: Third front announced for Bihar elections: Samajwadi Party, NCP, Samajwadi Janata Dal-Democratic part of it)

Earlier on August 30, Rahul Gandhi also skipped the Swabhiman rally of Janata Dal United-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, which was attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar. The Congress party is leaving no stones left for the first big rally ahead of Bihar elections, scheduled to occur in five phases from October 12. In the grand alliance, the Janata Dal United and Rashtriya Janata Dal both will contest on 100 seats each, while Congress will fight on the remaining 40 seats in 243-seat Assembly.
