New Delhi, June 6: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Wednesday clarified that there is no minimum provision of minimum attendance for the class 10th and 12th students appearing for the Bihar board exams. The clarification came a few hours after questions were raised at topper Kalpana Kumari’s attendance in class 12th. Along with class 12th exams, Kalpana, who is also a NEET topper, had been preparing for Medical exams at a famous coaching centre in Delhi for last two years. Since the minimum attendance required to appear in the board exams is 75 per cent, questions that “if she was in Delhi, who was marking her attendance?” were raised. Over 12 lakh students appeared for the exam this year. To encourage the hard-working students, the Board will give cash prizes and other rewards to those who pass with excellence. Following the results, the Bihar government announced Rs 1 lakh prize for the topper, Rs 75,000 for the second topper and Rs 50,000 for the third topper.
Also, the top five students in each stream will be given scholarship under the Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chatravriti scheme.
The BSEB 12th Result 2018 was declared today at 4 PM. NEET topper Kalpana Kumari topped the Science stream with 434 marks and Nidhi Sinha topped Commerce. This year, the pass percentage in the Bihar Board BSEB 12th Result 2018 stood at 52.95 per cent, that’s a two per cent increase from the 2017 result. In fact, the pass percentage of the Science stream has also increased by 15 per cent.
The pass percentage of Science stream stands at 44%. The same for Commerce and Arts was 91.32 per cent and 42 per cent, respectively. A total of 12,07,986 students had appeared for the Bihar Board BSEB 12th Result 2018.
Last year, the overall pass percentage was 50.12. A total of 861,000 candidates out of 17,23,911 had failed had failed the Bihar Board BSEB 12th Result 2017. The pass percentage of the science stream students was 30.11 per cent and that of Arts and Commerce was 32.13 per cent and 73.76 per cent, respectively.
