Patna, Sept 23: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pitched up the ante against the opposition BJP, by cornering the party over the recently erupted reservation row. Slamming the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for demanding a reconsideration of positive discrimination, the JD(U) leader claimed that BJP shares the contentious opinion with its ideological mentor, and is only attempting to distance itself from the controversy citing the upcoming polls.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Nitish Kumar said: “BJP-RSS are closely linked and are two units of the same organization. BJP is nothing but a puppet in front of the RSS. When the sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat has publicly stated his opinion, then its clear what exactly is their ideology towards the backwards.” (ALSO READ: BJP distances itself from RSS view on reservation; slams Lalu Prasad Yadav of politicising the issue)
“RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comment on reservation issue clearly shows that he thinks that present status of the reservation policy is not right. But we will not allow a reconstitution of reservation panel. The status quo will not be changed,” Nitish added.
Further lashing out at the BJP, Nitish said, “They claim to adopt the development as their poll plank. But their actual tactic is to divide the society and communaly polarize it.”
On Monday, RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat opined that the present system of reservation should be reconsidered, since he believes that a number of classes which are considered backward have assimilated in the mainstream.
