New Delhi: To boost Bihar’s railway connectivity and enhance the traveling experiences, the Indian Railways (IR) is relentlessly working on projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the state. On completion, the rail projects will ease rail travel and enhance the passenger experience. According to the reports, of the total amount, rail projects worth Rs 86458 crore are at various stages of implementation, while the remaining Rs 3164 crore are being utilized for the redevelopment of railway stations in the state.
It is important to note that in the railway budget for the financial year 2025-2026, Bihar was allocated Rs 10,066 crore. This is 9 times more when compared to the grant allocated in 2009-14 (Rs 1132 crore).
Here are some of the key details:
The national transporter has constructed 1832 km of new tracks since 2014 in Bihar
Indian Railways has electrified 3020 km since 2014. Bihar is now 100 per cent electrified.
A total of 514 rail flyovers and under-bridges have been constructed since 2014.
Apart from these, the railways installed 66 lifts, and 74 escalators, and provided Wifi facilities to 393 stations in the last 10 years.
Currently, 12 Vande Bharat trains covering 15 districts having 22 unique stoppages are in operation across the state.
The railway introduced 1 Amrit Bharat Express (Darbhanga – Anand Vihar Terminal), covering 4 districts having 11 unique stoppages in the state.
