New Delhi, June 4: While the BJP has convened a meeting with its Bihar allies on June 7 to discuss seat-sharing for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi said that the party has no doubt that Nitish Kumar, the state Chief Minister, would be the face of the NDA campaign. “Desh ke PM Narendra Modi hain, lekin Bihar ke neta to Nitish Kumar hain. Isliye Bihar mein jo vote milega wo Narendra Modi ke naam par, aur Nitish Kumar ke kaam ke naam par milega. Isme virodhabhas kahan hai (Narendra Modi is the PM but in Bihar, Nitish Kumar is the leader. Whatever vote is cast in our favour would be on Modi’s name and on Nitish’s good work. Where is the contradiction?,” Modi said today. (Also read: Vijay Goel Invites Rebel AAP Leader Kapil Mishra to Join BJP)

On whether there was any dispute on seat-sharing, he said, “Koi vivad nahi hai. Jab dil mil gaye to seat kaun si badi cheez hai. Har chunav ke andar kaun kitna ladega, nahi ladega, ye saara jis din baithenge, saari cheezon ka aelan ho jaayega (There is no dispute. When there is mutual understanding, there is no rift over seats. Once we sit down together, we will sort out seat-sharing; who will fight and from where, and these things will be announced.”

Earlier in the day, JD(U) leader Pavan Verma had also spoken on the issue. He said, “Between coalition partners, as elections approach, there will be discussions on seat adjustments. In the case of Bihar, JD(U) in our view has always been the senior partner and Nitish Kumar is CM of the NDA even today.” As to what they expect from the BJP, Verma said, “We have not had formal talks, our expectation is that the BJP, which is the largest party in NDA, will deal with its ally in a manner of mutual respect and  understanding of certain factors verifiable on the ground.”
