New Delhi: Covid cases are rising rapidly in India. Bihar on Monday registered the state’s first Covid-19 case of the current wave. A 31-year-old man from Patna tested positive for the infection. The patient, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, has “no history” of travelling outside the state recently.

“A man from Patna with no history of travelling outside the state recently has tested positive for Covid-19. The level of infection is very mild. The case is being monitored closely and all necessary protocols are being followed,” Patna Civil Surgeon Abinash Kumar Singh told PTI.

The administration has urged the citizens to “stay alert but not alarmed”, as health systems remain fully equipped to handle the situation, he said, adding that there is “no need to panic”. “Government hospitals in Patna have already been asked to ensure preparedness. This includes ensuring the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines, and vaccines,” Singh said.

First Covid Case in Jharkhand:

Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi on Sunday registered the state’s first COVID-19 case of the current wave as a person who had recently returned from Mumbai tested positive for the infection. The infected person is being treated at a private hospital here, he said. “Today, we received the official confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in Ranchi of the current wave. His condition is stable and he is not showing any other complications,” Ranchi Civil Surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar told PTI.

• Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said there is no need to panic about COVID-19 cases, even as she asserted that the hospitals were fully prepared to tackle if the number rises. According to official figures, Delhi has 104 cases of the resurgent virus.
• Bihar on Monday registered the state’s first Covid-19 case of the current wave as a 31-year-old man from Patna tested positive for the infection
• Four more people tested positive for Covid-19 in West Bengal, taking the count of active cases to 11, a health department official said. The patients with breathing-related issues have been undergoing treatment at state-run and private hospitals
• With fresh Covid-19 cases being reported in the state, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said the government is taking all the necessary precautionary measures, including testing the risky cases.
