Patna: A retired commissioner of the Irrigation department and his wife were found dead at home in their Buddha Colony near Patna, Bihar, said police on Friday. Police were informed late on Thursday night. SSP Manu Maharaj told ANI, “It’s murder. We have suspicion on several people. The bodies of 82-year-old Harendra Prasad his wife Sadhana Das Gupta were found lying in the drawing room of the house. Prima facie, it seemed to be murder and reports say there were injury marks on the bodies, the SSP said. There were injury marks on the heads of the deceased as well. The SSP said the duo was rushed to the hospital as soon as some relatives discovered them in their battered state but they were declared brought dead by the doctors.
An investigation is underway and police are confident of cracking it soon. While the couple’s relatives are being questioned, police have also detained four people, including the maid and the diver of the couple, for questioning.
Meanwhile, the District and Sessions Court in Shimla has awarded death sentence to the three convicts in the sensational 2014 kidnapping and murder case of four-year-old Yug Gupta. The court held Chander Sharma, Tajender Singh and Vikrant Bakshi guilty of kidnapping for murder, wrongful confinement to extort property and removing evidence.
