Bikapur, Feb 16: Samajwadi Party candidate Anand Sen Yadav won by-election in Bikapur constituency in Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh. After losing two seats (Deoband and Muzaffarnagar) in the bypolls, SP finally registered victory in Bikapur. The by-elections was necessitated in Bikapur due to demise of SP lawmaker Mitrasen Yadav last year. SP fielded Anandsen Yadav, who couldn’t retain the seat for the party. In Bikapur, 45 per cent voters practised their electoral rights.
In a major setback for ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, two of the seats out of three were won by other parties. Congress’ candidate Mavia Ali registered victory in Deoband and BJP candidate Kapil Dev Agrawal won the Muzaffarnagar by-election. On the other hand, the SP could win only Bikapur seat. All the three seats were held by SP before the bypolls. (ALSO READ: Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) by-election results 2016: BJP’s Kapil Dev Agrawal wins bypoll)
