New Delhi, Apr 18: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb is in the news for a new scientific interpretation. According to him, internet is not new to India and it existed even in the days of Mahabharata.

Addressing an event in Agartala, Deb spoke about king Dhritarashtra, who was blind, and his aide Sanjay, who used to narrate updates about the battles of Kurukshetra to him even when he was far away from the battlefield.

Deb asserted that this was possible only because of the existence of internet and technology. He also claimed about the existence of satellite during that era.

The BJP leader said that the European nations and the United States may claim that it is their invention, but it is actually India’s technology.

“Internet and satellite system had existed in India during lakhs of years ago. The richest culture belongs to our nation and I feel proud of it. Even today in internet and software technology, we are ahead. See Microsoft, it may be a U.S. company but most of its engineers are all from our country,” he added.

The Tripura Chief Minister viewed that since the era of the Mahabharata, India was top in technology but somehow in the middle, it got lost.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Digital India initiative, the former RSS pracharak, said that the digitisation in India has been turned into a reality only because of Modi government. He also hailed PM Modi for making internet a part of the daily lives of people.

Deb has completed only a month in his office since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept Tripura Assembly Elections 2018. The Red Bastion, till a month back, was held by the Left Front since 25 years.

He was attending an event aimed at the digitization of the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Tripura.

Notably, this is not the first time that a BJP leader has come up with such unique theories about ancient India.

Recently, Union Minister Satyapal Singh termed Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution of humans as “scientifically wrong” and stated that it needs to be changed in school and college curriculum.

Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had compared Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) missiles and rockets to arrows of Lord Ram.
