Jaipur: A few after Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh joined the Congress party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received another jolt after Jaipur Zilla pramukh Mool Chand Meena also crossed over to join the grand-old party ahead of the Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018. In 2015, Mool Chand had defeated Congress candidate Gopal Meena by five votes.
Meena’s decision to leave the BJP and join the Congress party was announced at Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting in Sikar. Unlike in the case of Manvendra Singh, the BJP hasn’t reacted to Meena’s decision to switch boats ahead of polls.
In another report, one of the Congress party candidates switched over to the BJP in Jaipur. Congress district president in Dholpur Ashok Sharma joined the BJP in presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and son Dushyant Singh. Ashok Sharma is the son of Bhanwarilal Sharma, who had defeated Raje in Dholpur in 1993 assembly election.
BJP President Amit Shah had earlier said that the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan are a “trailer” for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Shah asked party workers to work hard for winning the elections scheduled later this year without bothering about who would be the chief minister or a minister in the next government. The party has already announced that Vasundhara Raje would be the CM candidate again in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan is slated to go to polls on December 7 and counting of votes will be done December 11.
