New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s remark on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) did not go down well with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the saffron party’s spokesperson Sambit Patra lashed out at him. Patra said that Rahul Gandhi’s comparing RSS to ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ comment is unacceptable. He added that Gandhi is demeaning the country’s democracy by making such kind of statements. Drawing inference to the ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ comment, Patra questioned Gandhi as to why did he hate the Muslims. He also added that Rahul Gandhi had insulted the nation and he must tender an apology from London itself. The BJP spokesperson further said that Rahul Gandhi’s hatred was for Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quite visible and he bore malice for the PM. Patra said that Gandhi’s malice could be seen as his sense of entitlement and concern as to how a ‘chaiwala’ became the PM instead of him is reflected. He also alleged Gandhi of emboldening Pakistan. Speaking about RSS’ contribution to the country, Patra spoke about how the right-wing outfit is helping Kerala in rehabilitation.

For the unversed, Rahul Gandhi had said that RSS is trying to change the nature of India and compared it to the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab world. He had also said that no other organisation in India that wanted to capture the country’s institutions other than RSS.

This isn’t first of a kind statement made by Gandhi. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi had compared India to Islamic State (IS). The BJP had lashed out then too and came down heavily on Gandhi for “denigrating” the country on foreign soil. The Congress in retaliation had said that Gandhi’s statement has been twisted and he was only speaking about the pressing issue of unemployment in different parts of the world and that its fallout leads to anger among the youth.

It must be noted that Rahul Gandhi on earlier occasion blamed RSS for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and he faces a defamation case for it as well. Interestingly, he had compared RSS to ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ in May this year too. He had also stated RSS as anti-women.
