Goa, July 26: Amid incidents of mob-lynching on the rise, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA M Lobo on Thursday spoke how Goa meat complex is shut as so-called ‘gau rakshaks’ had blocked the state border and the entry of beef in the state.

Lobo raised questions in the Goa Assembly and questioned the minister as to when the Goa meat complex will begin functioning as the state’s tourism was also suffering because of the decrease in supply of beef. He further said that he would want to know if there will be an interference from so called ‘gau rakshaks’.

The BJP MLA also added that decrease in supply was hurting the state’s business as there are many meat eaters in Goa. Stating that there is shortage of beef in the state, Lobo said certified cattle in Goa should be slaughtered at govt meat complex if it cannot be brought from Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Lobo said that he respected the ‘gau rakshaks’ but beef could not be banned in Goa as there were too many people in the state who consumed beef.
