Mumbai: Ram Kadam, who recently came under attack over his offer to kidnap girls to bring them to their spurned suitors, was heavily trolled on Friday after he tweeted that Bollywood actor Sonali Bendre was no more, only to retract it after realising that the news was not true and facing a massive backlash.
Kadam tweeted in Marathi that “Bollywood and Marathi diva” Sonali Bendre “has passed away in America” and condoled her demise. However, the BJP MLA deleted the tweet after he was trolled mercilessly. “About Sonali Bendre ji, it was rumour for the last two days. I pray to god for her good health and speedy recovery,” he tweeted.
Bendre is currently undergoing treatment for cancer in the US. Bendre revealed in July that she has been diagnosed with a “high grade cancer” and is undergoing treatment in the US.
On Monday, Kadam came under attack after he threatened to “abduct” girls for their rejected suitors for marriage. “You need anything, just come to me.. If you have proposed to a girl and she has rejected you, I will help you.. 100 per cent. Come to me with your parents and say that they approve of her. Then, I will catch her and bring her to you,” Kadam told the gathering at Ghatkopar.
Soon after a video of Kadam making threats went viral and created a political furore all over the country, he said that his remarks were taken out of proportion. “I had no intentions to hurt anybody’s sentiments, but if I have done so, I regret it. Certain opponents are behind this misunderstanding,” Kadam said in a late-night tweet on Tuesday.
