New Delhi: Setting the tone for upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the Opposition grand alliance and said that a campaign is going on to publicise a failed experiment in the history of Indian politics by the name of ‘mahagathbandhan’. “These people are trying to make a ‘majboor sarkaar‘ (reluctant government). They don’t want a ‘majboot sarkar’  (strong government) to get formed and their shop to get closed again,” said the Prime Minister  in his address at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s national convention.

PM Modi also attacked states barring CBI from probing cases. “Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh have blocked entry of CBI. What wrong have they done that they’re feeling scared? Today they don’t accept CBI, tomorrow they won’t accept some other institution. Army, Police, SC, EC, CAG all are wrong, only they are right,” PM  Modi said.

He added,”In 2007, a Congress minister said Modi will go to jail within a few months. They had even imprisoned Amit Shah. But we didn’t form a law to stop CBI from entering Gujarat as we had faith in law. These peoplel are levelling allegations on agencies because they’re scared.”
Intensifying attack on Congress party, PM claimed the country wants a strong government, but they want a government that will promote their own families. “The government before us pushed the country into darkness. It won’t be wrong if I say that India lost 10 important years (2004-2014) in scams and corruption,” PM asserted.

The Prime Minister also blamed Congress party for the delay in the construction of Ram mandir at the dispute site in Ayodhya.  “Congress is trying to obstruct the Ayodhya case through its lawyers, Congress was even ready to impeach the CJI using false allegations, what kind of mentality does the Congress have which works against the country’s interest on every issue?,” PM asked.

Prime Minister Modi also listed out the achievements of his government saying, “It has happened for the first time in the history of the country that a government that came into power with absolute majority hasn’t been accused of corruption. We can take pride in the fact that there is no taint on us.”

“Important initiatives have been taken up in last four years for women empowerment. Peoplel made fun of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ for political opposition, but we have come a long way to free society of wrong beliefs that existed for decades ,” PM added.
