New Delhi, Nov 13: Disgruntled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP R K Singh lashed at the top leadership of the party accusing them of promoting criminalisation of politics in the run-up to Bihar elections. The former Home Secretary also alleged that there is lack of accountability when the political outfit miserably fails in the electoral battle.
Speaking to television news channel NDTV, Singh accused BJP in a blatant manner of distributing tickets to criminals to secure assembly segments in Bihar. His wild allegations exposes the hypocrisy of the saffron party whose entire poll plank in Bihar was based on countering Lalu Prasad Yadav’s jungle raj. “They were offering tickets to criminals. I told them that atleast in my constituency don’t give tickets to criminals,” Singh said. Further expressing his disappointment, Singh added, “I though BJP was a party with a difference, but ended up being disappointed since they would also stoop low to win elections.”
R K Singh was serving as the Home Secretary during the UPA government. Ahead of the 2014 general elections, he joined BJP and got elected as a parliamentarian from Arrah constituency in Bihar.
Showing support towards the BJP old guard who have adopted a rebellious approach, Singh said, “If people are asking for accountabilty, then what is wrong in it. It is time to review the mandate of Bihar and fix accountability for BJP’s debbacle. The Margdarshak committee (comprising of L K Advani, M M Joshi, Yashwant Sinha and other veteran leaders) was made for this purpose.”
