New Delhi, July 10: Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson MJ Akber highlighted the success of the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif in Ufa on the sidelines of SOC summit. Claiming it as a big success, the BJP spokesperson said, “After years of unclear delays, first time Pakistan has promised to expedite Mumbai attack trials.” Another important decision taken in the meet was to release fishermen detained on both sides of the border. “Prime Minister Modi and Prime minister Sharif also agreed on the release of fishermen in each other’s custody along with their boats within 15 days,” said the Rajyasabha MP, Akbar. BJP also slammed the Congress for criticising the meeting between Modi and Sharif. Responding to Congress’ accusation of the meeting being directionless, Akbar said, “Don’t know Congress’ position on Pakistan policy, one day some position, other day some other position, different voices.” However, fringe elements within the NDA have expressed their disappointment over the meet. BJP’s controversial leader Subramanian Swamy called the meeting as ‘fruitless’. BJP’s close ally Shiv Sena also termed the meeting as unworthy. “Nothing comes out of such talks.
