New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday evening released the 23rd list of candidates for ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2019, replacing Arun Jaitley with Hardeep Singh Puri from Punjab’s Amritsar and Sumitra Mahajan with Shankar Lalwani from Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Lalwani is Chairman of Indore Development Authority and will be contesting the polls against Congress’s Pankaj Sanghvi. (Full coverage on Lok Sabha Polls) Also Read - Ghulam Nabi Azad Praises PM Modi, Says "Proud Of Leaders Like Our PM, Doesn't Hide True Self"

Meanwhile, the party has renominated Manoj Tiwari, Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri from their respective seat North East Delhi, West Delhi and South Delhi, while naming Dr Harshvardhan as a candidate from Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat. In 2014, Congress’s Captain Amarinder Singh had defeated BJP’s Arun Jaitley from Amritsar by over 10,000 votes. On the other hand, BJP’s Sumitra Mahajan has retained the Indore Lok Sabha seat since 1989. In last general elections, she had defeated Congress’s Satyanarayan Patel by over 45,000 votes.

The Lok Sabha Elections are being held in seven phases. The voting for the first and second phase was held on April 11 and 18, respectively. All seven seat in Delhi will go to polls on May 12. The counting of votes will be conducted on May 23.
