New Delhi, May 19: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday slammed out at Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s remarks that the latter defeated the former saying that his claims are laughable. “Rahul Gandhi’s claims are laughable as the BJP had 40 seats in last assembly elections and the party, this time, bagged 104. It was a victory of the BJP and a defeat for the Congress. For them, EVM is good when they win but the point is that they are not winning anywhere. So for them, the EVM is bad,” Prakash Javadekar, BJP, said.
Slamming the Congress party even more for the horse-trading allegations, Javadekar said, “If we were doing horse-trading, we needed only seven MLAs. But we didn’t do any such thing that is why we resigned no. He added that the Congress and JD(S) kept their MLAs captive in the resort and didn’t even let them contact their own families. “Yeddyurappa showed how democracy is respected, he touched many hearts. However, the Congress on the other hand, instead of praising him was alleging that we were doing horse-trading,” he said.
“Congress does not respect institutions & this statement is just an evidence of that. Is this how they show respect towards the post of the Governor?” Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sanjay Nirupam’s statement about Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala.
Moments after BS Yeddyurappa resigned as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference and attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that his “corruption-free India is a blatant lie”. Speaking at the press conference, Rahul Gandhi said, “You’ve seen openly how the PM directly authorized purchasing of MLAs in Karnataka, so the idea that PM spreads in the country that he is fighting corruption, is a blatant lie, he is corruption.”
Slamming the BJP leaders for leaving the Assembly before the National Anthem, the Congress President said, “Did you notice that after the entire exercise in Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, the BJP legislators & speaker chose to leave the house before the national anthem? It shows they can disrespect any institution if in power, both BJP & RSS have disrespected institutions. In India, the will of the people cannot be disrespected. The will of the people is everything,” he said.
BS Yeddyurappa, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister of state, on Saturday resigned from the post ahead of the crucial Karnataka floor test to prove the majority. In an unusually emotional speech, Yeddyurappa said that he failed to muster the numbers. Before announcing his resignation, the BJP leader said, “I will lose nothing if I lose power, my life is for the people.” Yeddyurappa will submit his resignation letter to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala.
