New Delhi: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday called Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad a “victim” of Rahul Gandhi’s changing sides. While addressingb a press conference in New Delhi, Javadekar said that while one day, the Congress President is in favour of one community, the other day he turns into “a Shiv bhakht” of which, he said, Ghulam Nabi is a victim.
Calling “changing sides” a trait of the Congress party, the Union Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has never made any difference among its party leaders. “One day in favour of one community and the other day, a complete flip, a Shiv bakht. That’s a trait of Congress party. Ghulam Nabi Azad is a victim of it. But BJP never makes any difference among its party leaders,” Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said, news agency ANI reported.
The remarks come in the backdrop of Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement that “Hindu brothers don’t invite me for campaigning anymore.”
Speaking at an event on Wednesday in Lucknow, Azad had said, “Since the days of the Youth Congress, I have been campaigning across the country from Andaman Nicobar to Lakshadweep. 95 per cent of those who used to call me were Hindu brothers and leaders and just five per cent were Muslim brothers. But in the last four years, I have observed that the figure of 95 has dropped to just 20 per cent…Today people hesitate in calling me, thinking that it would affect their vote banks.”
Javadekar on infighting in Rajasthan Congress
Despite Congress quashing the speculation of infighting in Rajasthan Congress, saying the rumours are planted by the BJP, Javadekar said, “Infighting is the only thing happening in Congress. Rahul Gandhi has no guts to declare his favorite Sachin Pilot as the face of the campaign. And Sachin Pilot’s supporters are hooting out Ashok Gehlot in meetings!”
Asserting that the Congress party is united, Sachin Pilot said that the saffron party resorts to spread rumours to divert the public’s attention from the issues that plague the state.
Javadekar attacks Congress over latter’s stand on Ram temple
Javadekar further asked the Congress party to clear their stand on the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Earlier, BJP MP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue Rakesh Sinha said that he would bring a private member bill in Parliament for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and asked the opposition leaders if they would support it.
Announcing his decision to introduce a bill on Ram temple in a series of tweets, the BJP MP asked what Congress president Rahul Gandhi, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, BSP chief Mayawati, and CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury’s position will be.
Will Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury, Lalu Prasad, Mayawati support the private member bill on Ayodhya? They frequently ask the date (as to when construction of Ram temple will start). Now the onus on them,” Sinha said in a tweet.
