New Delhi, February 26: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced blue-coloured Baal Aadhaar for children below five years of age. “For children below 5 years no biometrics will be captured. Their UID be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photograph linked with the UID of their parents. These children will need to update their biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial photograph, when they turn 5 and 15. After the child attains five years of age, a mandatory biometric update is required, UIDAI tweeted.

A second biometric update has to be done when the child is 15-year-old. The biometric update for children is free.

Aadhaar has become mandatory to avail government schemes and other activites such as opening bank accounts.
