Mumbai, Feb 13: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing a rally in Kandivali on Sunday ahead of the upcoming BMC elections said that Shiv Sena has entered into pacts with parties against which late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray fought his entire life. Claiming that Sena is desperate for votes, chief minister stated “It is their desperation for votes that is making them have pacts with parties that Balasaheb Thackeray had fought against. This election has exposed the real face of the party.” Fadnavis also alleged that Sena is in talks with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Latur. Also Read - Maharashtra Revises Guidelines For Passengers Arriving In State Amid Omicron Threat | Check Details Here

Blaming Sena for the underdevelopment of the city, Fadnavis claimed that Mumbai is not ‘international level’ because the party did not develop the city despite for being in power for more than two decades. “Mumbai doesn’t get tourist because Sena did not develop the city,” he said. Fadnavis further added that it is unfortunate that despite being in power for so long, Sena does not talk anything about the work done by them. Fadnavis further added that it is unfortunate that despite being in power for so long, Sena does not talk anything about the work done by them. The BJP leader blamed Sena for corruption in BMC and stated that the party had spent Rs 180 crore only on paper just by making plans which haven’t even begun yet. “We will continue to rake up various scams involving them,” the 46-year-old Chief Minister added. Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray, President of the youth wing of Shiv Sena on Sunday stated that people are happy with the party’s decision of breaking the alliance with BJP and contesting the upcoming civic polls all alone. “The BJP is misguiding people by presenting the Metro rail work, which was carried out by the previous Congress-led state government, for seeking votes. During the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and to deposit Rs 15 lakh in peoples’ bank accounts. Don’t get carried away by such false promises of the BJP,” he added.

After being in alliance in BMC for more than two decades, BJP and Sena broke their alliance in the civic elections after the two parties failed to work out a tie-up for BMC elections, the country’s richest Municipal election. Shiv Sena, which has been ruling BMC for more than two decades is confident about winning the BMC elections whereas BJP, after winning maximum seats in the local body election of the state is leaving no stone unturned to create an impact in Mumbai ahead of the upcoming BMC elections.

Elections for the 227 seats of BMC will be conducted on February 21 and the results for the same will be announced on February 23.
