Smita Thackeray said people in Mumbai face water problems since years and this issue remains unsolved. She said the traffic in Mumbai is so bad but still nothing has been done to overcome the issue.

Mumbai, Feb 21: Late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s daughter-in-law Smita Thackeray on Tuesday spoke about the rampant corruption in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). During an interview to India Today on Tuesday, Smita who is the ex-wife of Jaidev Thackeray said problems concerning people have remained unresolved for years. “I myself had to face problems, in spite of being from the Thackeray family”, she was quoted by India Today.

Smita, who cast her vote for a change in the state, said corruption in BMC is big issue. She said that there are a lot of issues that are not being addressed by the BMC and stated that corruption in BMC is big issue. In her statement, Thackeray said people in Mumbai face water problems since years and this issue has not yet being solved. She said the traffic in Mumbai is so bad but still nothing has been done to overcome the issue.

Smita also spoke about the bad conditions of roads and said that that people spend a major portion of their time in travelling due to pathetic roads in Mumbai. Smita blamed BMC for not addressing the problems concerning common man. Raising the pollution issue, Smita said that the pollution level is rising and is taking lives of many innocent people. When asked if she held Shiv Sena responsible for the work not done, Smita said one party cannot be blamed for not bringing out the change in the state. She said the Shiv Sena is working for the development and growth of the state. “The system is corrupted for so many years. No party can be blamed for this”, Smita said in her interview.

Majority of Bollywood celebrities including Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Rekha came out to vote on Tuesday morning. Many other Bollywood celebs came to vote later in the day. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) went to poll on Tuesday morning, along with nine other nine municipal corporations where total of 2275 candidates in the fray in 227 municipal wards. The results will be declared on February 21. The Security in Mumbai has been beefed as part of arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections.
