Kota, Sept 6: A high-level alert has been issued at Kota railway station in Rajasthan. Explosive material has been found at the railway station. Bomb squad has arrived on the spot. Search operation has been launched at the site. The station has been cordoned off. Evacuation is currently underway. The bomb squad has arrived at the station. The diffusion process is currently underway. Railway Police has taken control of the situation to prevent chaos.
As per early reports, 2 kilograms of explosives were found at the station. Police has also found the bomb detonator alongside it. All train facilities at the station have been halted. The inbound and outbound trains have been halted at suitable distance away from the station. The bomb scare has created panic among the commuters. Kota, considered to be one of the education hubs of India, is flooded with commuters all around the year. The bomb scare has rattled the authorities at the station, as well as the district police.
Kota Junction is one of the most prominent stations in the Western Zone. Several important trains, including the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani express passes from Kota. Almost all the major trains from Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan and vice versa take a halt at Kota. The explosives being found at the station also raises questions at the security arrangements in place. After the Samjhauta Express blast, Railways had claimed to have pitched up its security mechanism. However, 2 kgs of explosive, along with wires and detonator raises doubt over such claims made by the Railways.
