A tragic incident occurred in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday when a government school building suddenly collapsed. The incident took place at Piplodi Primary School at around 8.30 am. So far, at least four children have died and 17 others are injured. More than 30 children are still feared trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams have reached the spot, and efforts are going on to save the trapped students. As per reports, the building was in a dilapidated condition and several complaints were raised in this regard earlier. The school offers education till Class 8.

According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, ten of the injured children have been taken to a hospital in Jhalawar. Out of them, three or four are in very serious condition.

Police said that teachers and local villagers helped pull the children out from under the debris before rescue teams arrived. The situation is tense, and rescue operations are still continuing.

At least 17 students were present inside the building when a section of classrooms for Classes 6 and 7 gave way, said SHO Vijendra Singh of Dangipura police station.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his concern about the tragic school building collapse in Jhalawar’s Manohar Thana. He said on X, “Many children and teachers are reported injured in this terrible incident. I pray that the loss of life is as little as possible and those who are hurt recover soon.”

Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s School Education Minister Madan Dilawar confirmed that an investigation has begun. He added that officials are also checking the safety of other buildings on the school campus to prevent such accidents in the future.
