New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been extremely active in the recent times and has been sending summons to various political leaders in different cases. The development is part of an ongoing investigation in violations of FEMA.

ED Conducts Searches At Vaibhav Gehlot’s Premises

As mentioned earlier, the Enforcement Directorate has conducted searches at the premises of Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. The raids have been conducted as part of the investigations in a forex violation case. Vaibhav Gehlot, member of the All India Congress Committee has come under the radar because of the ongoing investigation in a case against Triton Hotels and Resorts, its directors and promoters Rattan Kant Sharma, Shiv Shankar Sharma and others. This is being done for their alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The connection between Ratan Kant Sharma and Vaibhav Gehlot is that they are business partners at a car rental service and according to a complaint filed in 2015, Ashok Gehlot’s son had allegedly routed illegal funds from a Mauritius-based firm called Shivnar Holdings which is suspected to be a shell company to Triton Hotels and Resorts.

An allegation was made that the funds were diverted by purchasing 2500 shares of the hotel; the price of each share was Rs 39,900 each but its original price according to the complaint was only Rs 100 per share. It was in October 2023, that Vaibhav Gehlot had appeared before ED for questioning with respect to this case.
