New Delhi, Mar 1: The last rites of Jayendra Saraswathi, the 69th Shankaracharya of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam who passed away on Wednesday in Kanchipuram following a cardiac arrest, was performed on Thursday. Earlier yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mourned the passing away of Shankaracharya.
On the other hand, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, who is a 41st generation direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad and is known for his global initiative to fight radicalisation, will deliver a lecture on Islamic heritage and promoting understanding and moderation at a conference in Delhi today. PM Modi, diplomats, representatives from a wide range of Islamic institutions, academicians and think-tanks will attend the event to be held at Vigyan Bhavan.
