New Delhi, July 31: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday accused HD Kumaraswamy of indulging in politics of Divide and Rule. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, “CM HD Kumaraswamy is playing politics of Divide & Rule. Unfortunately, he is working only for 37 JDS MLA seats, not as CM of entire Karnataka. CM’s injustice to different parts of Karnataka & especially North Karnataka has created agitation in North Karnataka.”

The agitation for a separate north Karnataka is picking up the pace with the Separate State Agitation Committee has said it will unveil a flag for the northern Karnataka region in Belagavi city on Tuesday, said media reports. The committee has been demanding that a separate state be carved out of the region’s 13 districts. According to News18, the Samiti has also made hundreds of shawls in the same colours as the flag.

A leading daily quoted the committee president, Somashekhar Kotambari, as saying that he would do everything required to make the separate state a reality. “For decades we have faced the apathy of governments concerned only with the development of southern Karnataka and have ignored this region. To send out a message that this is a committed agitation, we will unveil a north Karnataka flag,” he told Hindustan Times.
