“We are now launching a flagship national health protection scheme that will cover 10 crore families. They will be provided upto Rs. 5 lakh. This is one of the largest healthcare programmes in the world,” Arun Jaitley said reading his fifth consecutive budget speech in Lok Sabha.  (Income Tax Calculator: Know Your Income Tax Slabs, Rates & Rebates Ahead of Budget)

Apart from that, Rs 600 crore at the rate of Rs 500 will be provided to every TB patient every month, Jaitley added.

The government will also open 24 new medical colleges including upgrading a few existing colleges and ensure there is at least one government medical college in every state.
