New Delhi, Feb 6: High drama on the unexpected death of former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) E Ahamed is expected today, on the 4th day of the Budget session in Parliament. Ahamed passed away at the early hours of Wednesday, February 1, the same day Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was expected to present the budget for the financial year 2017-18. Despite the opposition’s call for postponement of the Union Budget as a respect to the late leader, the government refused to postpone it and went ahead with the presentation of the budget on February 1.
On February 3, Congress leader K C Venugopal gave an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha alleging immoral approach by the RML Hospital and government towards E Ahamed and his family. “The unethical approach from the hospital officials and the government towards veteran parliamentarian Shri E Ahamed and his family members during his last hours has created anguish and concern among the people in the country, the same owes an explanation from the Government and an impartial investigation,” said Venugopal. The 79-year-old had suffered a cardiac arrest during President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to the joint session of Parliament on January 31.

If the session goes ahead without much interruption, there are a lot other issues that are expected to be taken up today at 11 am on the fourth day of the budget session. Employment, Petroleum, the state and development of tea gardens, the use of natural gas, GST, Bills for replacing ordinances, Bills for ‘introduction, consideration and passing’, Impact of demonetisation, Bills pending in Lok Sabha, Triple Talaq, Bills pending in Rajya Sabha, Financial business, Bills for withdrawal etc are some of the issues and discussions that are expected to be taken up or discussed about in the session.
However, considering the death of E Ahamed and the government’s decision to postpone it by a day, it is very unlikely that the opposition will let the session happen without much interruption.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned till 11 AM in the morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be speaking in the Parliament tomorrow.

Rajya Sabha adjourned till tomorrow morning 11 AM.
Some of the leaders suggest to continue the session until 8 pm.
Jithender Reddy of Telangana stated in the budget our state was not considered, we need AIIMS, different High Court etc.
