Karnataka, March 25: A bus driver belonging to the North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) allegedly committed suicide at Bidar’s Basavakalyan Bus Depot in Karnataka on March 25, Sunday.  A probe is underway.

Unfortunate instances with regard to NEKRTC buses have been on the burner in the last couple of days.  Nearly three days back, a bus driver was killed in a truck-bus collision on the national highway near Batawade, Tumakuru on Thursday.

The bus was traveling from Sindhuru towards Bengaluru. According to traffic police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a lorry from behind which in turn caused the driver to fall out of the bus and he was crushed under the rear tyre.

The unfortunate cases of NEKRTC buses doesn’t end here. Last month, depot number two/three of the NEKRTC caught fire. At least, eight parked buses were completely gutted in the fire. A total of 2000 tyres also caught fire leading to huge clouds of smoke billowing out from the bus depot.
